The Salesforce Marketing Cloud Product Owner (MCPO) will lead a dynamic team working toward building and implementing constituent centric experiences through an enterprise-wide digital transformation initiative. To achieve this, the Society is aggressively growing capacity in a Salesforce enabled ecosystem which includes Marketing Cloud. The MCPO will provide technical expertise, design and build system and tool enablement and drive data driven decision making.

The MCPO will play a hands-on role in the ongoing technical maintenance of the platform while helping build and support the execution of our digital marketing programs using Marketing Cloud and will provide expertise in marketing automation processes and campaign management and manage ongoing Marketing Cloud implementations.

The MCPO is responsible for maintaining the integration between Salesforce and Marketing Cloud. The MCPO will build Marketing Cloud Journeys and lead design and process guidance in collaboration with Society subject matter experts. This person will also develop and create responsive, best-in-class dynamic email templates/automation for Society business units.

Essential Function/Responsibility
Solution Design and Implementation: 30%
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and capabilities to design and build high-performance technical solutions on the Salesforce Marketing Cloud platform
  • Resident Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Social Studio and Ad Studio technology expert responsible for end to end solution design and technical implementation for activities such as audience selection, trigger qualification, suppressions, segmentation, building journeys, customer lifecycle programs, etc.
  • Lead solution architecture/design discussions, develop work effort estimates for implementation and present solutions
  • In addition to relevant technology expertise, must be able to gather and translate business requirements into a technology solution and then implement that solution in an accurate, efficient and reliable manner
  • Responsible for the primary Marketing Cloud data model and architecture
  • Strong aptitude to learn new tools and will be expected to become a power-user of all modules in marketing cloud specifically Exact Target/Email Studio, Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Content Builder and Contact Builder, Social Studio, Advertising Studio, Command Center, etc.
  • Train and coach internal teams on how to best use Salesforce MC
  • Support center of operational excellence. Help identify innovation opportunities and provide operational support. Identify inefficiencies and opportunities for additional automation
  • Stay current with the rapidly developing Salesforce ecosystem. Prototype and integrate tools into Marketing Tech stack and lead adoption of tools
  • Familiar with various data extraction/manipulation techniques
  • Liaise with cross-functional teams including Technical Teams, Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing, Analytics, Web Operations and Marketing.
Team Leadership and Enablement: 30%
  • Identify, design, develop and test solutions leveraging Salesforce Marketing Cloud in support of the Enterprise Marketing function
  • Build customer journeys and cloud pages as well as teach and enable others on the marketing team
  • Develop data integrations with Salesforce Connector
  • Provide overall architectural design and best practices for Salesforce Marketing Cloud
  • Work on a cross-functional team and teach others how to leverage Marketing Cloud.
  • Partner with business and Enterprise Technology teams across the enterprise to drive out solutions that meet business objectives
Marketing Cloud Operations: 20%
  • Contribute to data improvement projects within our Salesforce ecosystem;
  • Provide real-time support for issues relating to Salesforce and other supported platforms;
  • Support change management (release) process to develop and implement new applications and update existing applications;
  • Ensure technology alignment with the overall enterprise-wide CRM roadmap, prioritized; business objectives and other society systems;
  • Execute development and advanced configuration activities within the marketing cloud platform;
  • Identify project risks and present alternatives to alleviate or resolve issues;
  • Validate solution components and provide training for internal staff when appropriate;
  • Manage email deliverability, database hygiene, subscription management and compliance with global opt-in laws and regulations;
  • Oversee new data in Marketing Cloud and advise on data use for targeting, configuration strategy and reporting;
  • Structure and implement marketing tests to drive optimization (e.g., test creative, copy, audience segments, triggers, etc.);
  • Develop and enhance the Society’s user preference center within Marketing Cloud.
  • Create and maintain Automations / Data Extensions and connector data transfer processes in Marketing Cloud;
  • Work with Salesforce, support vendors and internal technical staff to troubleshoot and apply new features, upgrades and patches;
  • Identify areas of improvement and make actionable recommendations to increase operational efficiency and user adoption;
  • Develop documentation of current processes and future enhancements.
Staff Supervision (20%)
  • Responsible for the hiring, onboarding, and continued development of direct reports
  • Conduct regular check-ins to monitor progress, provide feedback, and offer guidance and support where needed to ensure staff is fully supported in their role
  • Ensures staff have the tools, knowledge, and resources necessary to perform job duties effectively as well as opportunities for professional development
  • Coach and collaborate on goal-setting and professional development plans and conduct formal and informal performance conversations
  • Hold staff accountable to the cultural values of the organization and ensure they follow Society operating principles
  • Lead a high performing virtual team with trust, clarity, shared goals, and celebrated wins.

This position is temporarily remote: it is an office based role – flexible to be held out of any of our 30+ local offices.
Minimum Education Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems or related areas
Minimum Experience/Skills/Competencies Required
  • Minimum of 6+ years of Salesforce Marketing Cloud experience at an operational level, preferably in an organization that is product focused and/or has a growth/subscription/retention business model.
  • Hands on experience with enterprise CRM/Database/ESP platforms working inside the tools to execute cross-channel, data-driven campaigns.
  • Advanced expertise on Email Studio, Journey Builder and Integration experience with Salesforce CRM.
  • Hands on experience with Marketing Cloud data extensions, T-SQL and advanced AMP Script experience required.
  • Strong QA process experience and adherence is essential.
  • Experience with concept to launch solution design and execution of multi-channel direct marketing/CRM programs
  • Produce deliverables within a diverse, fast-paced environment, collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams and juggle multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
