Director, REALTOR Real Estate School and Professional Development

n n nn Welcome to Association CareerHQ: n Your one-stop shop for association career and talent management resources nn nDirector, REALTOR Real Estate School and Professional Developmentn nn Summary: Under the direction of the Executive Vice President (EVP), and in accordance with the Association’s policies and procedures, the Director, REALTORS® Real Estate School and Professional Development is responsible for leadership, vision, strategic planning and operations for the Professional Development department.nn Essential Duties and Responsibilities: These essential duties and responsibilities are not intended to be and should not be construed, as an all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, or working conditions associated with this position.

nn Departmental Operations nn Ensure all licensing requirements for the proprietary school are met.

Plan and implement all license programs and classes for the association pursuant to the Licensing Act of 2010 and through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations (IDFPR), Division of Professional Regulation.

Serve as liaison to Illinois REALTORS® (IR) and the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) on all member professional development issues.

Ensure that all policies and procedures are implemented in compliance with Applied Measurement Professionals (AMP/PSI) testing standards.

Supervise Professional Development staff and RRES employees while identifying development and mentoring needs.

Work with EVP to identify relevant training and development opportunities.

Oversee department budget and provide updates to Executive Management and Board as needed.

nn Professional Development nn Plan and implement all continuing education seminars and workshops for the association pursuant to the Licensing Act of 2010 and through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation’s, Division of Professional Development.

Oversees and collaborates with the Communication Department on professional development marketing plan including but not limited to; scheduling and finalization of course offerings for input into Rappatoni, curriculum summary draft to submission to Communications department for placement on the website, and classroom reservations.

Ensure courses are appropriately instructor-staffed; establish back up instructor list and identify alternate instructors in cases of emergency.

Supervise instructors for such license programs under the guidelines of the License Act of 2010 and through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations, Division of Professional Regulation.

This includes hiring, training, evaluation, and, if necessary, termination.

Stay abreast and demonstrate knowledge of all aspects of the License Act of 2010 through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations.

Conduct, analyze and compute evaluation techniques and tools for all license and continuing education programs.

Oversee CAR’s hot/emerging topics educational programs (i.e.

non-licensing).

Ensures annual compliance with the NAR Mandatory Core Standards for Associations of REALTORS® for areas of organizational responsibility.

Determine appropriateness of CE credit for new curriculum.

When appropriate oversee the submittal and approval process.

Liaise to Professional Development workgroup.

nn Organizational Support nn Serves on the Executive Management Team Work with the EVP on the annual C.A.R.

Strategic Plan and budgets for the department.

Continuously support, identify, research and develop business opportunities for the department and the Association, including but not limited to non-dues revenue programs.

In conjunction with the CEO and EVP, develop department’s strategic business plan and develop, oversee and maintain all aspects of the department’s budget including monitoring and tracking of departmental revenue and expenses, forecasting and the development of contingency plans.

Develop department policies and procedures.

Create and maintain relationships with membership and the brokerage community.

Provide direction on research needs as a result of strategic planning and regularly survey members based on needs of department, analyzing data as applicable.

Serves on various committees at IR and NAR, as assigned.

Other duties as assigned and required.

nn Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration, Education Administration or related discipline required.

A minimum five (5) years’ experience in the same with documented experience required.

Of the five (5) years professional experience, two (2) years must be in the supervision of staff.nn nn Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as industry briefings, contracts, letters of agreement and procedures manuals.

Ability to write in-depth reports and correspondence.

Ability to speak effectively before groups of members or employees of the organization.

Fluency in another language besides English a plus.nn nn Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages, and analyze them.nn nn Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Ability to deal with complex problems involving several variables.

Ability to think creatively and speak thoughtfully under pressure.nn nn Computer Skills: Must possess functional, proficient and expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Software including; Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Knowledge of various database systems preferred.

Knowledge of and interface with project management software preferred.nn nn Leadership Skills: Although the list of a leader’s desirable qualities is virtually endless, the following leadership characteristics are expected of an employee to successfully perform their job: loyalty, integrity, enthusiasm, flexibility, knowledge, and communication.
