– Chicago, ILEducation Level4 Year DegreeJob CategoryManagementDescriptionSTATEMENT OF PURPOSE: Coordinates and supervises the activities and personnel of all employment services programs including, Job Readiness & Placement, Intake & Rehab Counseling, the Transitional Jobs Program and all employment services activities.TRAVEL REQUIRED: Approximately 15 -25%; metro Chicago and statewide.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:* Plan, organize and implement the agency’s employment services program;* Supervise employment services staff, maintain relationships with and integrate agency programs, goals, objectives, activities and outcomes into a total agency job placement network/system;* Conduct periodic in-service training programs for employment service personnel; institute ongoing programs for counselors, providing training and awareness necessary for professional placement;* Recruit and hire staff for new and unfilled positions;* Supervise employment services staff to determine job readiness, qualifications and eligibility of employment for program participants;* Manage the supervisor of the Transitional Jobs Program to ensure all program goals and objectives are met;* Utilize the classic placement approach to recruit new employers through face-to-face contacts and by describing Lighthouse programs as well as the capabilities of blind and visually impaired individuals;* Meet with employers to generate new employment opportunities for our target population; maintain and enhance existing employer partnerships through direct personal contact;* Establish a strong and consistent relationship with the BBS Rehabilitation Counselors in order to obtain referrals as well as appropriate billing documentation;* Provides Intake Assessment to agency clients requesting services;* Assesses needs and employment readiness for individuals who are blind or visually impaired;* Makes recommendations and enrolls individuals into additional employment support services programs;* Assign a placement counselor to each participant enrolled in Lighthouse job training programs;* Train placement counselors to provide Lighthouse tours; maintain and submit monthly reports;* Provide directors with monthly job placement reports;* Ensure accuracy and timeliness of billing; work closely with the accounting department to guarantee passing audits and compliance with agency contracts;* Prepare budget information for program activities;* Assist the Public Relations Department in promoting the services of the agency through media and other programs;* Work with the Financial Development Department to coordinate and manage all activities and tasks associated with the scholarship program;* Develop standards and expectations for the staff of the Employment Services department to ensure performance and outcomes befitting the excellent reputation of the Lighthouse;* Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications* Bachelor’s Degree in rehabilitation counseling, education or related field required
