This role is responsible for planning and executing communications programs and activities. This role serves as a point of contact between IT communications and stakeholders across IT and Exelon, including the corporate communications team. This role is responsible for advocating for and supporting established processes and guidelines for communications and to work with stakeholders to coordinate and develop content, and to ensure consistent messaging across communications channels. Additional responsibilities include communication campaign design and implementation, writing for all channels, participation in and ability lead employee engagement activities including but not limited to leadership meetings and live streamed meetings.


  • Ensure effective communication of IT strategies, goals, initiatives, projects, and other relevant content by producing accurate, timely, editorially proficient, and compelling content and publishing using established IT communications channels
  • Manage a variety of communications tasks to support leadership, including preparation of a range of communications publications, talking points, presentations, videos, speeches, and other materials.
  • Support employee engagement activities including meetings, lunch & learns, webinars, live streaming events, and others
  • Develop strong working relationships with stakeholders and leaders as appropriate
  • Support and participate in the development and implementation of communications strategies, programs, and initiatives




  • Directly supports the IT Communications Manager
  • Position activities are focused primarily on internal IT communications utilizing established communications channels including newsletters, SharePoint sites, Stream Video Channels, etc.
  • Requires ability and willingness to build relationships and conduct stakeholder outreach
  • Involves proactive communication planning and plan execution, ability to independently manage communications plans, related projects and tasks
  • Must be able to manage and prioritize multiple high-profile projects with competing deadlines
  • Requires ability to think critically, make educated decisions, and work under minimal supervision
  • Requires ability to travel occasionally, typically between Chicago, Baltimore, and Philadelphia







  • 4-year relevant degree and 5 to 8 years experience in Communications (internal communications, employee engagement, or comparable experience in a related field) or 9 – 12 years of relevant work experience
  • Excellent communications skills – written and interpersonal
  • Strong writing, editing, and communication design skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills – ability to problem solve
  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to be innovative and creative
  • Ability to work both autonomously and with a team as well as interface easily with members of the leadership team, including executive leaders
  • Ability to quickly and accurately translate complex information into simplified language for a variety of stakeholder groups
  • Ability to communicate and report on complex technical concepts and projects
  • Proficiency in MS programs, including Office Suite and SharePoint, and Stream


  • Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Advertising, or related field
  • Organizational Change Management Experience
  • Experience with graphic design and visual communications including web / SharePoint site design and UX
  • Photography and video production experience, and ability to work in related software programs (Adobe programs)
  • Industry knowledge (Energy / Utilities)
  • Knowledge of IT-related systems
