Principal, Behavioral Scientist

Job Summary:The Principal Behavioral Scientist is an opportunity to join the Horizon 3 team within WBA to build a world class Behavioral Science, Data Science, Insights, and Engagement enterprise capability leveraging digital-first platforms, analytics, and agile development methodologies.This role works cross-functionally and collaboratively with teams across the Horizon 3 team in the design, execution, and analysis of behavioral, clinical, and business experiments, including A/B testing and randomized controlled studies when appropriate.

To enable H3’s mission to provide a best-in-class consumer health experience, the Principal Behavioral Scientist will help establish processes and guide the Horizon 3 team and external partners and collaborators through the processes to make it easy to navigate the complexity of implementing and evaluating practical programs incorporating behavioral science.The Principal Behavioral Scientist interprets and communicates insights & findings and applies behavioral science and behavioral economic principles.

The responsibilities include advising teams to develop functional strategies (often segment-specific) on matters of significance.

The Principal Behavioral Scientist will exercise independent judgment and decision-making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks and will work with minimal supervision, using independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors and determining the best course of action.Job Responsibilities:* Develop and evaluate behavioral science models and algorithms that support and drive consumer engagement in health & wellness products and services* Review and adopt research literature findings and industry best practices to develop innovative new concepts for consumer engagement and personalized service* Develop data-driven, action-oriented plans in a high-ambiguity environment, making use of behavioral science, quantitative analysis, and business judgment* Be an in-house expert in the principles and mechanisms of behavior change* Design, implement, and analyze quantitative behavioral experiments (A/B tests, RCT, etc.) across Horizon 3 products* Elucidate data-driven insights for product and content development for Horizon 3 and quickly learn from experiments to put forward new hypotheses, including identifying opportunities to improve the behavior change potential of products across the platform* Lead the development of quantitative survey instruments and user discussion guides* Develop behavioral and health-related metrics and conduct appropriate statistical analysis of impact* Work closely with Product and User Experience teams to understand user needs, goals, and experiences to create product features and content* Work closely with Product, User Experience, and Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) teams to design and implement quantitative validation studies for new products and features* Documents projects including business objectives, data gathering and processing, leading approaches, final algorithm, detailed set of results and analytical metrics.* Exercise independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks, and works under minimal supervision, uses independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors and determining the best course of action.An Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability/veteransWalgreens (www.walgreens.com) is included in the Retail Pharmacy USA Division of Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc.

To best meet the needs of customers and patients, Walgreens offers a true omnichannel experience, with platforms bringing together physical and digital, supported by the latest technology to deliver high-quality products and services in local communities nationwide.Basic QualificationsBachelor’s degree and at least 6 years of experience in Economics, Behavioral Sciences, Psychology (preferably social, cognitive, or consumer), or a related field; or a graduate degree and at least 2 years of experience in the aforementioned fieldsIndustry experience applying behavioral science in the business world, ideally in healthcare or a health-related fieldExperience conducting lab or field studiesExperience working with and analyzing various types of data using SAS, R, Stata, MATLAB, Python, or similar softwareAble to clearly articulate and translate complex ideas to audiences of various backgroundsExperience in strategic and analytical modelsWilling to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).Preferred QualificationsMaster’s or PhD in a quantitative, computational or technical discipline2+ years of work experience in healthcare, health insurance, or related fieldExtensive experience conducting economic or behavioral science researchExperience working with and analyzing various types of data using SAS, R, Stata, MATLAB, Python, or similar softwareExperience with statistical modeling to make predictions about future outcomes and in multiple scenarios.

Evangelizes new ideas / technologies / solutions to gain acceptance from a wide range of audiencesExperience in data science, advanced analytics, or statistics; ability to interrogate data, perform analyses, interpret data, and present to business audiences
