Job Description

Position Summary:

  • The Utility Material Handler is responsible for transporting products, packaging, and equipment through facility with the use of material handling equipment. ( i.e. pallet jack, forklift) and distributes them within the warehouse.

Responsibilities, Challenges, and Opportunities:

  • Conducts material audits and checks each pallet for correct labeling, commodity code, pallet tag number, and pallet integrity before transporting to the intended process.
  • Placing unacceptable pallets in the pallet repair staging area.
  • Inspects material handling equipment and wooden pallets for damage and cleanliness prior to use or storage.
  • Check material handling equipment’s battery durability and charges if needed
  • Able to use the scanning equipment and computer for finished goods.
  • Able to understand shelf life/lot codes
  • Ability to understand and follow first in/ first out rotation for WIP products.
  • Able to recognize quality issues and take proper action to correct them.
  • Follows safety regulations and maintains compliance of GMP
  • Communicates any noted problems with material handling equipment and/or other manufacturing concerns to group leader.
  • Ability to comply with company policies, promoting safety

Knowledge, Skills, Education and Experience :

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred or one to three months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 6+ months of experience or in a similar setting.
  • Must be flexible with work scheduling as well as overtime
  • Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods; ability to bend, stoop, reach and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to understand detailed written and/or oral instructions including basic mathematical skills
  • Must be able to operate electric or manual pallet jacks and forklift
  • Previous experience working in a food manufacturing plant preferred

Working Conditions:

This position requires knowledge and awareness of manufacturing and industrial sites. Protective gear will be required where appropriate. Position requires ability to work overtime, varying start times and weekends dependent on business needs.

Pay Rate: $17.44/hour + Benefits
Hours:
2nd Shift (2pm-10pm)
3rd Shift (10pm-6am)
