Data Product Management and Governance Lead

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, other technical degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience designing, deploying Data and Analytics, Business Systems solutions, and working with SQL or similar tools.
  • Experience with implementing data workflows for SAP, Oracle, Salesforce or other large financial or business systems.
  • Experience in product and or technical program management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience using Agile methods and practices through multiple teams (Scrum and Kanban).
  • Experience in one or more of these domains: Finance, Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), Business Intelligence (BI), Master Data Management (MDM), Big Data Analytics and Data Science.
  • Experience as an engineer, product manager in data, systems integrations, or Machine Learning and analytics.
  • Familiarity with a language for statistical computing (R, Python etc) and forecasting (ARIMA etc.).
  • Proficiency in one or more data visualization tool or platform (DataStudio, Tableau, Looker etc.).

As a Data Product Management and Governance Lead, you will work within the Center of Excellence (CoE) team within GPO and will be responsible for enabling and ensuring a consistent approach across the entire Procurement Organization through deep data insights, and agile simple processes and technology. In this role, you will lead multiple data efforts in a team across platforms, analytics, and machine learning for the entire Google wide supplier and category spend.

And nobody at Google loves big numbers like the Finance team when providing in depth analysis on all manner of strategic decisions across Google products. From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

Responsibilities

  • Own entire product and systems design (ideation to launch, including hypercare and steady state operations) of high impact data platform and analytics solutions.
  • Author data products vision/ strategy and product requirements documents (PRDs).
  • Own and drive scaled and automated solutions to process automation, data governance, and product excellence. 
  • Represent Google Procurement Organization (GPO) in Steering/Operating committees and Master Data/System and Product councils across Engineering and Finance.
  • Act as a data platforms (AI/ML exposure) and Business Intelligence (BI) product manager, collaborate and partner effectively with large cross functional teams across Engineering, Finance, Legal etc. as well as external vendors to realize the GPO data product strategy.
