Aon is looking for an Intellectual Property Broker

As part of an industry-leading team, you will help deliver innovative and effective solutions within our Intellectual Property Solutions Group from our Chicago, IL office. As a Broker, you will report to a senior leader in the IP Solutions broking team.

Aon’s Intellectual Property Solutions team is part of our New Ventures Group (NVG), which accelerates innovation on behalf of clients and expands Aon’s addressable market. NVG brings the power of Aon’s enterprise skills, assets, and relationships to rapidly scale Aon’s most significant growth stage opportunities. As an IP Solutions Team member, you will be a key part of this process.

Your Impact as a Broker

Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the Intellectual Property insurancemarketplace, products and services, developing productive business relationships withkey insurance underwriters
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Intellectual Property consulting and risk management capabilities
  • Responsible for identification of additional Intellectual Property opportunities for clients
  • Responsible for all aspects of client service for assigned book of business including, billing, policy collection, review, and transmittal in accordance with established departmental service standards
  • Retain and grow assigned clients/prospects
  • Facilitate the compilation of submission information in conjunction with appropriate external client contacts and internal Aon clients
  • Provide broking status and continuous support and service to clients during entirebroking process and entire period of engagement by client (this is a continuousprocess)
  • Demonstrate ability with all elements of client communications, including presentations and technical writing
  • Utilize effective negotiation skills.
  • Establish understanding of claims administration process and utilize the claims and legal advocacy group for claim administration and counsel as per established protocols and as directed by senior team members
  • Drive utilization of all available technology throughout broking process and clientservice process
  • Understand the causes of E&O and avoid and adopt practices to reduce exposure
  • Replicate effective products/solutions and share effective solutions with colleagues

You Bring Knowledge and Expertise

Required Experience:

  • Sales and/or Leadership Experience (e.g. sports, university or professional organizations, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to build relationships
  • Ability and willingness to cold call
  • Proven dedication to continuous learning
  • Active Property & Casualty License or willingness to obtain one upon hire

Preferred Experience:

  • 1-2 years of Financial Lines or Intellectual Property insurance brokering and/or underwriting experience.
  • Intellectual Property knowledge


  • Bachelor’s degree
