Easterseals n Job Description n n Job Title: Controller n Department: Finance n Reports To: Chief Financial Officer n FLSA Status: Exempt n Location: Easterseals National Office, Chicago, ILn n SUMMARY n Supervises and coordinates Easterseals National Office general accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll functions.n n ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Other duties may be assigned.n nSelects, trains/orients, assigns department accounting staff, evaluates performance, and makes recommendations for personnel actions.n nEstablishes accounting procedures and internal controls and assures that procedures and controls are documented correctly.

Assesses controls through periodic evaluation and risk assessment programs.n nOversees all activities related to the general ledger including accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed asset, and payroll systems.

Ensures that all financial transactions are properly executed and recorded.n nOversees timely and accurate financial statement reporting and variance analysis for management and board members.n nOversees the timely preparation and filing of Form 990.

Assists with all other regulatory reporting.n nAssures accurate accounting of government grants and manages the A-133 audit function.

Oversees the grant program financial functions and communications with federal agencies to ensure compliance with the financial aspects of the grants.

Assures that overall grant management adheres to regulations under OMB Circular A-133.n nCoordinates and supervises the entire posting, billing, and collection operation ensuring that the accounts receivable and notes receivable records meet the established standards.

Ensures proper valuation of receivables on the balance sheet.n nAssures month-end account reconciliations are performed accurately and timely.n nPlans, coordinates, and prepares for year-end audits.

Ascertains that the assets of the national headquarters are properly accounted for and reconciled.n nWorks collaboratively with the Director of Treasury Operations on budget preparation.n nConsults and advises management on financial issues, compliance, and risk management.n nDevises and recommends new or modified accounting systems to provide complete and accurate financial and statistical reports.

Ensures record systems are maintained under generally accepted accounting principles, and ensures adherence to state and federal policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.n nAssists the Chief Financial Officer in facilitating the Finance and Audit Committee meetings of the Board and meeting minutes.

Develops financial reports for Board and Board Committees and periodically delivers presentations to the Board and Board Committees.n nAssists the Chief Financial Officer in overseeing the planning, control, and effective utilization of the financial resources of the institution.n nEnthusiastically supports team members by conducting business ethically and with integrity; demonstrates respect for colleagues; shows dedication to improving quality and is committed to customer service.n nUnderstands and endorses Easterseals’ mission and values.n nPerforms other related duties as assigned or requested.n n Job Requirements: n QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
